About Us

Magnus Mansie:
Magnus holds a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography and Economics. He was a Royal Australian Naval Officer for five years. After leaving the RAN, he pursued a career in film and television for twelve years before being awarded a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship to study Ethics in Leadership.

Magnus traveled to Bangladesh to study the Grameen Bank, founded by Professor Muhammad Yunus, winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2006. Here Magnus became aware of the benefits of utilizing an adjusted corporate model to solve complex environmental and social justice issues. The key adjustments include: closing the loop on who can become shareholders such that only the intended beneficiaries of the company‘s purpose are permitted to own shares and in an equitable manner and developing a transparent governance model that leads to a sharing mindset rather than one of greed.

Deane Belfield:
Deane is a Certified Professional Engineer with post-graduate qualifications in both Business and Environmental Science. He has a wealth of experience delivering integrated sustainability related business and community solutions, at both a national and international level. His expertise spans the technical, business and environmental areas, having spent his early years with a global industrial corporation which has in recent times developed a strong presence in the renewable energy market.

Recognising that supply chains of the future must become increasingly more sustainable, Deane developed a resilient closed loop supply chain business model for the provision of regional renewable energy, characterized by minimal waste, low carbon, low risk and local ownership. Deane regularly acts as a catalyst for change within organisations and the wider community, helping them bridge the transition towards a more equitable and sustainable position.

John van Geldermalsen:
John van Geldermalsen was formerly Director of the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship and has continued as a mentor to Magnus since the completion of his fellowship.

John’s role on this project is to act as internal critic, to assist the project team in maintaining realistic goals and expectations and in holding themselves accountable to the commitments that they make.

“All leadership initiatives involve travelling into new and unknown territory. The quality and integrity of the initiators and their intentions are critical factors influencing the success of any such venture, and in ensuring that those who follow can do so with confidence.”
